Premier Farm Credit Names Chris Hornung as Next President & CEO

Premier Farm Credit, a leading agricultural lending cooperative in Northeast Colorado, is proud to announce the selection of Chris Hornung as its new Chief Executive Officer.  The decision was made by its Board of Directors after a nationwide search. Hornung, who now serves as the VP Lending, has worked with Premier Farm Credit for 18 years and will officially assume the President & CEO role upon the retirement of Michael Grauberger at the end of 2024.

With a strong background in agriculture and a commitment to customer service, Chris Hornung is known for his strong work ethic and leadership in driving portfolio growth. As a single-industry lender focused exclusively on agriculture, Premier Farm Credit has long provided exceptional service to its farming and ranching communities. Under the new CEO’s leadership, the organization will continue to prioritize relationships with its members and ensure that local agricultural producers receive the support they need.

“We are confident that Chris is the right person to lead Premier Farm Credit into the future,” said Rebecca Lenz, Board Chair. “His deep knowledge of the organization, strong ties to agriculture, and focus on customers will ensure that we remain a trusted partner for our producers. We look forward to continuing our mission of providing the best lending solutions to our members.”

The outgoing CEO, Michael Grauberger, who has led Premier Farm Credit with dedication and vision, expressed his support for his successor: “I’ve had the privilege of working with Chris for nearly two decades, his passion for agriculture and unwavering commitment to our members will continue to strengthen Premier Farm Credit’s position as a leader in agricultural lending.”

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Colorado State University. He grew up on his family’s diversified farm and ranch in Stratton, Colorado that primarily raises irrigated corn, dryland wheat, and has a large cow/calf operation. Chris and his wife, Sommer, reside near Otis and have three children. In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with family, helping on the family farm, and playing golf.
